Faera Byerly, MD

Dr. Byerly was born in Morganton, NC.  She attended North Carolina State University for her undergraduate education, receiving Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry.  She then received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Following medical school, she completed an internship at New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  At that point, she returned to North Carolina to finish post graduate general surgical training at UNC.  She took time off in the middle of residency for critical care research in the NC Jaycee Burn Center, followed by a surgical critical care fellowship.  At the completion of residency, she completed a Surgical Oncology fellowship at UNC.  Dr. Byerly is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery.  Dr. Byerly’s interests are primarily in cancer care, specifically pancreatic cancer, melanoma, gastrointestinal malignancies, and breast cancer.  She is also interested in endocrine surgery.
